Roots and Wings
Roots and Wings
When I do abstract figurative work, I never have a plan. I build layer upon layer until something speaks to me, until I see the figures show up, and then I begin painting around them. When these figures showed up, I cried. It felt like such a release to have them there in front of me. Their story is there for you to make up for yourself just as it is for me. I love the ambiguity of the narrative in this piece, simple yet complex. Just when you think you might have it figured out, it can easily transform into yet another story.
